"Blogs Just Scare the Pants Off of Me"

After discovering that its employees were spending "thousands of hours a week and potentially more than $2 million a year visiting auction, sex and gambling Web sites," earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Interior started monitoring and blocking staff access to certain Web sites. Over a million sites are off-limits.

According to Federal Computer Week, the ban now also includes access to blogs. The article quotes Interior Department CIO W.Hord Tipton as saying, "Blogs just scare the pants off me, particularly when Interior people want to launch blogs and take ownership of those types of things.”  Read more here.

p.s. If you're curious just how those Interior Dept. employees were spending their time online, you can read the department's report here.
